You can use your users’ location to personalize your marketing campaigns further. For example, you can talk about unique events at the specific locations your users are at.

To do that, you’ll have to use merge tags. Merge tags can be easily added to your emails and other resources using a basic tagging structure that brings in unique user properties, activities, recommendations and more into your email content.

Below are a few examples of using location-specific information to personalize your communication:

  1. A publishing company writing about local events can send personalized, location based emails with information on concerts, plays and other special events to a customer using tags such as {{city}}. This brings the customer a sense of connecting on a local level with a large brand, and improves brand recall.
  2. An eCommerce company can compete with retail outlets by sharing their best online offers over emails or push notifications while customers shop with the competition.  Using tags such as {{competitor_outlet_location}} can make customers curious about getting a better deal from your brand.
  3. A travel company can go beyond booking your accommodation and provide value by giving you tips about local culture, cuisine and events to guide you through your travel journey as you move from location to location.
